DESCRIPTION

Step into the shoes of Dissident 3000, a non-binary fighter awakened in a future city plagued by fear, oppression, and intolerance. OVERPRIDE, once a beacon of hope, is now overrun by corrupted beings—the Chrysalids, Wardens, and Vanos—manifestations of the prejudices and hatred that threaten to erase diversity and freedom.

In this frenetic, first-person beat ‘em up, you don’t just fight enemies; you confront the toxic beliefs they represent. With your fists as your only weapon, you will break down walls of fear, denial, and control through fast-paced, colorful combat that challenges both your reflexes and your resolve.

The gameplay invites players to physically and symbolically “erase” hate, embodying the spirit of resistance and transformation. Each enemy type reflects a facet of LGTBI-phobia—repression, judgment, and denial—making every encounter a step toward dismantling real-world discrimination.

Dissident 3000 is more than a game; it’s a call to action and a vision of futures where diversity is celebrated, not feared. The art, the story, and the gameplay unite to deliver an emotional impact that resonates beyond the screen, inspiring players to rethink and reject hate in all its forms.

CONTROLS

The game can be played using either a gamepad or keyboard and mouse, although we recommend playing with keyboard and mouse for the best precision and responsiveness.

• Walk: Left joystick / WASD

• Look around: Right joystick / Mouse

• Run: Left stick press / Left Shift

• Jump: South button / Space bar

• Punch: Right shoulder button / Left mouse button

• Reload: West button / R and Tab

• Defend and parry: Left trigger / Right mouse button

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project was created as part of the Dissident Video Game Workshop, held in commemoration of May 17th — the International Day Against LGBTI-phobia. Organized by the Department of Equality of the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña (UPC) and the Centre de la Imatge i Tecnologia Multimèdia (CITM), this workshop challenges students and faculty to design games that envision dissident futures where gameplay and art work together to eradicate LGBTI-phobia.

OVERPRIDE embraces this mission by using its narrative and mechanics to confront intolerance and discrimination, inviting players to actively participate in a movement towards acceptance, equality, and celebration of diversity.
